In the return leg of the spanish super cup. Barcelona needs to at least score 5 goals in order to secure the trophy after the 4-0 battering away at the grounds of San Mamés Stadium. Having scored a goal in the 43rd minute, he let his teammates down by being sent off. The reason that he was sent off was because the officials states that he mocks the assistant referee with curse words.

He claims that he wasn't saying those curse words to the official and that he was innocent of the things he was accused of. He posted on his official twitter account in spanish as follows "I want to apologise as the as the attitude with which I protested to the linesman wasn't right. The game was very tense especially when we had a lot on the line. However, I did not use any type of insult towards him."

It could be argued that he wasn't telling the truth, but in my opinion he still deserved the red card as a ramification of his conducts whether he cursed or not.
